Take command with the updated Tecnifibre TF40 racquet series

When Tecnifibre released its first TF40 frames five years ago, it almost felt like a one-off collector’s item. The brand was celebrating its 40th anniversary, and decided to release a couple of true player’s 98 square-inch frames—its core audience—to mark the occasion. No overly thick or stiff beams, no magic bullet technology. Just stable, classic-feeling frames that feature precision and control. An alluring appearance only added to the premium appeal.

But the racquets proved to be much more than keepsakes. Players appreciated their dependable response and the franchise brought a different playability to the Tecnifibre lineup. Where the T-Fight—the brand’s marquee line—brings all-around performance and the TF-X1 rewards with user-friendly power, the TF40 gives discerning users complete command and connected feel.

The recently-released newest installment of the TF40 doesn’t stray at all from the previous formula. It still sports the R-shaped beam construction for impressive stability and control, along with foam filling throughout the frame for a dampened, solid feel. The racquets all have low to mid-60s RA flex ratings, which also bolsters the comfort and predictability. Its sleek new camouflage-inspired army green and orange cosmetic is the most notable change.

However, it’s not entirely the status quo: The franchise welcomes a new member to appeal to a wider audience.

Joining the mid-weight 305g and the heavier 315g options is a 290g model. The lighter weight makes the racquet more accessible for rising juniors transitioning into a full-sized frame, or established players who want something speedy that sits more on the control end of the spectrum. Unlike the heavier options that come in multiple string patterns, the 290g only comes in a 16x19 setup, which combines with the quick handling to supply good power and spin to shots. According to Tecnifibre, it’s also the only sub-300g frame with foam filling, giving it a leg up when it comes to reducing harsh feedback.
