Donna Vekic isn't familiar with the second week of Grand Slams. Before Wimbledon, the 22-year-old's best runs included two third-round showings buried amidst a slew of first-round exits.

That all changed for the Croatian as she managed to make it to the fourth round for the first time in her career.

She provided one of the first (of many) upsets of the tournament by taking out Sloane Stephens in the first round—in straight sets, no less. From there, it was a simple run to the second week for Vekic.

Vekic is dating the three-time Grand Slam champion Stan Wawrinka, who she says has inspired her in London.

"He motivates me a lot. And his win against [Grigor] Dimitrov also gave me a boost," she said. "He brings much energy, especially now, coming back after his knee injury. I hope to stay there for as long as possible."

Her week two presence was short lived as she lost to Julia Gorges on Monday, but Vekic has proved that she can fit in on the biggest stages.

"It's been a good tournament for me. It's my first time of a second week in a Grand Slam. That's obviously a positive thing," Vekic said. "It's tough to look at it like that right now. I'm very sad I lost today. But I think when I calm down a bit and maybe in a few days I will be really happy because I really did have a good week."
