The 1989 US Open doubles champions
By the time the 1989 season rolled around, John McEnroe had seriously curtailed his doubles schedule. In 1988, he played two tournaments with Australian Mark Woodforde and won both. In their fourth tournament, the 1989 US Open, the two won the event, giving Woodforde his first Grand Slam title.
On the women’s side, Martina Navratilova, who ended her Hall of Fame partnership with Pam Shriver during the summer, teamed up with Hana Mandlikova to win the US Open. Ironically, Navratilova and Mandlikova faced Shriver and her new partner, fellow American Mary Joe Fernandez, in the final.

Todd Woodbridge and Jonas Bjorkman
After his longtime partner, Woodforde, retired at the end of the 2000 season, Todd Woodbridge was left looking for a new partner. He decided to team up with Jonas Bjorkman of Sweden, who was having success in both singles and doubles. The team reached the final in Sydney in their first tournament together in 2001 and went one step further in their next event to capture the Australian Open.

Martina Hingis and Yung-jan Chan
Chan may not be as successful this year as she was with Hingis in 2017, but she'll always have a stellar season to highlight her career record. Teaming up for the first time with Hingis last February, the two won nine titles together on their way to becoming the top team in the world.
