The first WTA 1000 of the year in Doha, Qatar saw its fair share of upsets from Ekaterina Alexandrova toppling Aryna Sabalenka and Amanda Anisimova stunning Paula Badosa, to Marta Kostyuk besting Coco Gauff and Jelena Ostapenko knocking out three-time defending champion Iga Swiatek.

The Middle East is booming with women’s tennis as the next stop on the WTA 1000s list is Dubai, and a star-studded show is on offer in the UAE, too.

But just like Doha, Dubai is hosting more than tennis in the weeks to come.

Into the final leg of its 19-day competition, the prestigious Gold Cup sees the best-known polo players and teams through the end of its calendar. The final day is Feb. 22, which means both polo and women's tennis will be crowning a champion next Saturday.

Cycling also returns on the Feb. 20 to complete Stage 5 of the UAE Tour. Participants will cycle through Al Qudra Cycle Track towards Meydan Racecourse, and end in Dubai Safari Park.

Keep an eye out for signs, circuits, and cyclists while sightseeing Dubai during this event.

While tennis may be sandwiched between all these major sporting events, it remains a top attaction in Dubai: Let's not forget that the month of February with an ATP 500 event.

The ATP moves into the Middle East next week for an ATP 500 in Doha, where many additional sporting events continue to take place, like the 24-day camel festival and FIA World Endurance Championships. And in two weeks’ time, once 2025's second WTA 1000 champion is crowned, the ATP will also compete in Dubai before heading across the globe to Indian Wells, Calif.
