Throwback Thursday: Connors and Nastase bro out in Cincy

Each won the Cincinnati title once in their careers.

Jimmy Connors and Ilie Nastase were caught in a moment in Cincinnati, many years ago. Connors, the American lefty, won his sole Cincy crown in 1972 over Guillermo Vilas. The following year, Connors dropped out in the semifinals, and a top-seeded Nastase won it all. That would be the Romanian's first and last Cincinnati title.

It certainly looks like Connors was a bit jealous of Nastase's impressive beard. Though the two rivals never faced off in Cincinnati, they played each other 27 times, with Nastase getting the edge, 15-12.
