"This could be my last one," Caroline Wozniacki said she kept thinking this to herself during her three-set clash against Ons Jabeur. The former No. 1 fought until the very end, but lost, 5-7, 6-3, 5-7 to Jabeur. She was celebrated on court one last time alongside her family and husband David Lee.

In her first match in Rod Laver Arena, Coco Gauff shocked the crowds by upsetting defending champion Naomi Osaka, 6-3, 6-4. The 15-year-old became the youngest player since 1991 to upset a Top 5 player.

It was only five months ago at the US Open when Wang Qiang was easily dismissed in 44 minutes by Serena Williams. This time the story was a little different, with Wang's confidence and composure carrying her to a  6-4, 6-7 (2), 7-5 victory.

Ashleigh Barty fans were all smiles on Friday, as the hometown favorite roared past Elena Rybakina, 6-3, 6-2. Barty has extended her winning streak to seven and will have a tough round of 16 matchup against Alison Riske. Barty has lost to the American in both their previous meetings.

After suffering a first-round loss, Amanda Anisimova is turning around her Melbourne campaign. Nick Kyrgios seemed to lift the teen's spirits on Friday as the two posted a 7-5, 6-4 win over David Vega Hernandez and Monique Adamczak.
