Top 5 Photos,10/10: Swiatek makes history in Paris

On Saturday in Paris, Iga Swiatek became the first player from Poland to win a Grand Slam title when she dismissed No. 4 seed Sofia Kenin, 6-4, 6-1. The 19-year-old didn't lose a set all fortnight long and was unseeded, making her feat even more remarkable.

Swiatek and Kenin started off in a first-set battle before Swiatek began running away with it. Though playing in her first major final, it certainly didn't look like it. Her previous best run at a Grand Slam was the fourth round.

Kenin struggled with a left upper leg injury and required treatment mid-match. The 2020 Australian Open champion still had a great showing in Paris by reaching her first career major final on clay. She took the hard loss graciously, congratulating her younger opponent.

Swiatek entered the tournament ranked No. 54 and will jump into the Top 20 when the new rankings come out on Monday. She had lost in the first round of "Cincy", the third round of the US Open and the first round of Rome before this magical run in Paris. The teen credited her success to a changed mentality after putting too much pressure on herself following the lengthy COVID-19 layoff.

France saw a hometown champion crowed when Elsa Jacquemot beat Russia's Alina Charaeva for the girls' title. Jacquemot, seeded No. 3, lost the first set but bounced back 4-6, 6-4, 6-2. It marks Jacquemot's first junior major crown.

The junior boys' trophy went to Switzerland's Dominic Stephan Stricker. He had little trouble easing past his compatriot Leandro Riedi, 6-2, 6-4. It's also his first junior Grand Slam title.
