The Credit One Bank Invitational in Charleston kicked off on Monday night with Australian Open champion Sofia Kenin and 17-year-old Leylah Fernandez getting wins before the rain came. In Roehampton, Andy Murray and more top Brits took the court for more round-robin action.

Sofia Kenin took on Alison Riske in her first competitive match since March. Kenin had Riske scrambling for the majority of the match and quickly posted a 6-1, 6-1 victory to give Team Peace an early lead.

Leylah Fernandez has quickly transitioned from juniors to the pro tour. The 17-year-old was off to an amazing 2020 as she defeated world No. 5 Belinda Bencic at the Fed Cup qualifiers and reached her first WTA final in Acapulco.

In Charleston, she posted a 6-4, 6-0 win over fellow teen Emma Navarro to get Team Kindness on the board.

Team Kindness captain Madison Keys was all smiles as she watched Fernandez find her rhythm. Keys is set to make her Charleston debut with doubles partner Victoria Azarenka on Thursday. The duo will take on Team Peace captain Bethanie Mattek-Sands and Kenin.

Ryan Peniston may have been a sub for the injured Jack Draper, but he wasn't just a place holder. Cameron Norrie was pushed to the edge by the 24-year-old, needing three sets to win, 3-6, 6-1, 10-4.

Andy Murray showed some of his old magic by hitting well-disguised drop shots and passing shots, but Kyle Edmund answered right back. After falling short in the first set, Edmund stayed close and managed to even the match.

With Murray appearing to be slightly fatigued, Edmund would sneak past the three-time Grand Slam champion, 6-7, 7-6, 10-4 to win on Day 2.
