The Canadian just seemed to want it more than No. 7 seed David Goffin. The world No. 17 posted a 6-7 (0), 6-3, 6-4, 6-3 score underneath the bright lights of Arthur Ashe Stadium. Shapovalov is into his first Grand Slam quarterfinal showing, where he will face Pablo Carreno Busta.

Jennifer Brady

Facing a tough Grand Slam champion in Angelique Kerber didn't intimidate Brady. From start to finish she was focused and capitalized on every opportunity to control points with her blistering forehand. The American defeated Kerber 6-1, 6-4, to set up a quarterfinal clash against Yulia Putintseva.

"It brought me so much confidence in winning the title in Lexington," Brady said. "It was my first title and on home soil, America. I was so happy and I think that's bringing a lot of confidence in my game this week."

Shelby Rogers

"It's not over until it's over." This saying proved to be true when Rogers saved four match points to eventually claim a 7-6 (5), 3-6, 7-6 (6) win against Petra Kvitova. The American's triumph booked her a spot in her first-ever US Open quarterfinal.

Novak Djokovic

The world No. 1 won't be capturing Grand Slam No. 18 at this year's US Open. The Serb was defaulted after hitting a linesperson in the throat during his round of 16 match on Arthur Ashe Stadium.

Pablo Carreno Busta

Djokovic's shocking New York exit, gave the Spaniard a stroll into the tournament's quarterfinals. The last time Carreno Busta reached this stage at the US Open was back in 2017, when he defeated Diego Schwartzman to advance into the semifinals. Djokovic's departure has opened up a door of opportunity for a player to capture their first major title.
