The ATP World Tour broadcast the draw ceremony for the Finals in London with a few special guests “dropping by."

Andy Murray, Gael Monfils, Stan Wawrinka, Marin Cilic and Dominic Thiem all video conferenced in at different points in the ceremony to chat with host Rob Curling. It was a nice touch to the presentation, and appeared to be an easy thing for the players to do without venturing far from the couch. Here are a few of their comments:

Murray, on waking up Monday as the new No. 1:

“Just a normal day, being at home with my family.” (Hope no one was expecting cartwheels from the even-keeled Scot.)

Monfils, after being asked what took him so long to make his ATP World Tour Finals debut:

“I don’t know, luck?”

Wawrinka, on his favorite moments at the O2 Arena:

“The first time I played, my first match against Tomas Berdych was an amazing feeling.”

Thiem, giving a special shout-out to those who helped him qualify for London for the first time:

“I want to thank Milos [Raonic] and [Murray] because they made it happen for me.”

And finally, Cilic, who seemingly came out of nowhere to get in, is just excited to be playing:

“It was really exciting the last few weeks for me… I’m really happy to be a part of this very specific group of players.”
