A fluke non-microwavable bowl incident would halt heavy-hitting CoCo Vandeweghe's 2020 campaign, but not before she artfully separated a racquet face from its stem in her Acapulco first-rounder against Heather Watson.

Watson entered the match as the higher-ranked player, and seeded No. 7. Even so, Vandeweghe seized on the opening stanza by a 6-4 count. But the ever-plucky Watson stayed in it, taking the last two sets, each by that same 6-4 score.

It was a groundstroke spectacular, largely off of Vandeweghe's racquet, which she folded in half, rendering it an ephemeral arts-and-crafts project. In this, she was both demolisher and maker.

The not-so-dearly departed racquet was not, however, donated immediately afterward to a fan, as with the stick she extinguished at the 2017 Australian Open.
