2017 High: Keys is back on the court. Sure, that doesn’t come with a title or a ton of ranking points, but considering she missed the Australian Open due to a left wrist surgery and then underwent another procedure for the same injury just weeks before Wimbledon, just playing is a plus. She reached the fourth round of Indian Wells in her first tournament of 2017, and then took out Garbine Muguruza and CoCo Vandeweghe to win the title in Stanford.

2017 Low: Keys hasn't played a full schedule this year, but her Grand Slam appearances have been disappointments. She lost four of five matches on clay, finishing her season on the dirt with a surprise defeat at the hands of world No. 290 Petra Martic at the French Open. She then lost in the second round of Wimbledon to Camila Giorgi.

Best Social Media Moment: First things first: Keys will not be playing any of her matches in a dinosaur suit. The 22-year-old had some fun with Wilson, testing her skills out while wearing a new, albeit extremely uncomfortable kit. Dinosaur outfit, 1, Keys, 0.

US Open Outlook: Just how much matchplay will Keys be able to get in preparation for the US Open? There is no doubt that if Keys plays her very best in New York, she will have a fighter’s chance to compete into the second week, if not further.

There are few players in the world who are as talented as the young American. But while her booming groundstrokes could take her far over the course of her career, she may not have the match toughness and confidence to live up to her potential at the year’s final Grand Slam.
