Tomas Berdych said farewell to professional tennis in a special ceremony Saturday at the Nitto ATP Finals. A former world No. 4, Berdych reached his lone major final in 2010 at Wimbledon, where he knocked off Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic in succession.

Berdych was joined by a number of his fellow 2019 retirees, including 2013 Roland Garros runner-up David Ferrer and 2006 Australian Open finalist Marcos Baghdatis. Radek Stepanek, who Berdych teamed up with to lead the Czech Republic to consecutive Davis Cup titles in 2012-13, was also among the players present. Stepanek hung up his racquet in 2017.

Hampered by a back injury for more than two years, Berdych went 13-9 this season, playing his final match in a first-round loss to teenage qualifier Jenson Brooksby at the US Open. The 34-year-old qualified for the season-ending event in London for six straight years from 2010-2015, advancing to the semifinals in 2011.
