NEW YORK—No one was safe on Labor Day, and the trend continued into Tuesday. On Monday night, both night matches saw upsets when Maria Sharapova lost to Carla Suarez Navarro and Roger Federer fell to John Millman.

The loss marked Sharapova's first under the lights at the US Open. Suarez Navarro will take on Madison Keys on Wednesday for a spot in the semifinals. Millman's shocking upset left the world stunned, but he'll need to turn around quickly to challenge another living legend, Novak Djokovic.

On Tuesday, fans saw defending champion Sloane Stephens dispatched by Anastasija Sevastova, who has an incredible record in New York. She's advanced to her first career Grand Slam semifinal.
