Soon after that match, though, injuries crept in and sent her ranking spiraling outside of the top 200. A strong finish to that season, which included a run to the final at the $125,000 in Houston, helped propel her on the comeback trail. By the end of the 2019 season, the 26-year-old was ranked well inside the top 100.
Through the first few months of this year, Davis posted a 5-5 record. With tennis set to resume soon, she’ll be looking to add more wins to her season ledger.
And she’s also shown that she’s willing to put in the hard yards—with a unique touch—to move up the rankings.
