At the 2018 US Open, Naomi Osaka's father Leonard Francois was walking around Arthur Ashe Stadium instead of watching his daughter defeat Serena Williams in the final. Osaka has previously stated that her father works up too much stress and anxiety to watch her play. Although Francois was always a constant in Osaka's professional career, he stayed in the background and let the other coaches do their jobs.

But for the past few weeks, Francois has not only watched but has coached the world No.3 through her last two titles in Osaka and Beijing.

"He annoys me so much that it makes me angry and I use my anger as a fuel to win," Osaka stated in a post-match presser.

She would tweet about her dad later: "All jokes aside I love my dad so much and I’m grateful for everything I learn from him on and off the court. I feel extremely lucky to be his kid cause he just drops knowledge."

The 21-year-old major champion is on a 10-match winning streak and back in the Top 3 with her dad by her side.
