Noami Osaka had little trouble dispatching Elina Svitolina, 6-4, 6-1 to reach her first Australian Open semifinal—but not before a rogue flying insect tried to slow her down. The world No. 4 was comfortably up a set and 5-0 when the interruption came soaring towards her.

Osaka is aiming for her second straight Grand Slam title, and almost had a rematch with Serena Williams ahead of her. Instead, she'll play Karolina Pliskova for a spot in the final. Pliskova leads their career head-to-head record 2-1 and won their most recent match, in Tokyo, in straight sets.

The other semifinal will feature unseeded Danielle Collins against Petra Kvitova.
