Rafael Nadal stomped past Botic van de Zandschulp at Roland Garros with a mostly routine scoreline of 6-3 6-2 6-4 on Friday, but after the match he got a visit that was slightly less routine—but way more adorable.

Waving to the crowd of fans, and quite a few celebrities, on Court Suzanne-Lenglen, the 21-time Grand Slam champion walked back to his chair ready to put his racquets away.

Seemingly out of nowhere, a small child ran up to greet him, and Nadal gave them a pat on the head with a grin in return.

"I don’t know how he got there, but it was a nice gesture there from Rafa,” said Barbara Schett on Eurosport. “Very cute to see. A very special moment.”

That wasn’t the only surprise from a spectator for Nadal on Friday. Also in the stands, French soccer legend Zinedine Zidane was taking in the action from the front row.

“I didn't see him, but I knew it was him, I knew he was there because I was listening the crowd naming him all the time,” Nadal said in his post-match press conference. “I didn't had the chance to see him after my match or talk with him at all.”

Maybe that will change tomorrow evening, when Nadal’s favorite team Real Madrid takes on Liverpool in the Champions League final in nearby Stade de France.

“Tomorrow, let's see how I wake up tomorrow, because, you never know with my body how the surprises are there,” he said. “But if nothing happens, and I expect nothing happens, and if I'm able to have the right practice tomorrow, yeah, my intention and my goal is [to] be there.”
