It turns out players and fans aren't the only ones itching for the return of live tennis.

Tennis Channel announcer Brett Haber, desperate for a match to call, found one to commentate on at Pyle Middle School in Bethesda, Md., between a 78-year-old named Cody and his opponent, Tonoose. With tennis one of the last sports to get axed by social distancing (there's 78 feet of space), even park matches are becoming harder to find this week.

"Body serve from Tonoose handcuffs Cody as he tries to step out of the way," Haber said, in the exact manner in which narrate a bout between Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal:

Via skilled serves, drop shots and overheads, Tonoose—"going with the Bethanie Mattek-Sands knee socks"—played a dominant few games, leading 3-0 by the time Haber let them carry on without the distraction of a TV commentator.

With the cancellation of Wimbledon, life without pro tennis is becoming the new normal, at least for a while. What might never go away, though, it tennis enthusiasts' unquenchable desire to find a match.
