As Venus Williams prepares to face off against her sister Serena, perhaps she'll be a little inspired by Wonder Woman. In (virtual) press on Tuesday after her dominant win over Victoria Azarenka in Lexington, Venus gushed over the powerful fictional character.

The 40-year-old's brand EleVen by Venus is releasing a Wonder Woman collection on Thursday.

"Just in leading up to this partnership I don’t think that the team at Warner Brothers really understood what a freak and a fan I was," Venus said. "I'm just pretty excited about that and Wonder Woman really stands for being a strong woman, being powerful, standing up for the right things, standing up for equality."

Thursday is the same day that she'll take on Serena for the 31st time in her career at the empty non-stadium court in Kentucky. Her little sister holds the edge in head-to-head battles, 18-12.

"It’s so special," Venus said. "Who would have guessed that this draw would have happened playing two former world No. 1’s and Grand Slam champions in first rounds in middle of Kentucky? I’m like, oh my God, but this is what it is. These are great tests for me coming into the season."

Both Venus and Serena will head to the New York City bubble after Lexington for the Western & Southern Open and US Open.
