When a long-standing player on either the WTA or ATP tour announces their retirement, it's always a bittersweet moment. Roberta Vinci, currently No. 117 in the world and on tour for almost 20 years, has shared the news that Rome next May will be her final tournament.

She broadcasted the announcement on Twitter with a fun video detailing small nuggets of her career through pictures and flashbacks.

Vinci reached a career-high ranking of No. 7 last year and has won 10 singles titles in her career. She may be most well known for the greatest upset in the past decade—her 2015 US Open semifinal win over Serena Williams. That fortnight marked her first time to a major final.

The Italian has also really shined in doubles, winning 25 titles (including five Grand Slams) and reaching No. 1 in the world.
