The China Open is in full swing, and some top WTA players tried to learn a few Chinese phrases that they can use with the local fans.

Simona Halep, Caroline Wozniacki, Elina Svitolina, Caroline Garcia, Karolina Pliskova and Petra Kvitova practiced saying things like "Hello, my name is ," "Cheer for me" and "I love you."

Of course, they didn't grasp the language instantly, but at least now they have some endearing expressions to say throughout the week.

"It's so tough, this language, come on," Pliskova said.

The tournament ended early for Halep, who had to retire one set into her opening match.

Garcia, Wozniacki and Pliskova are all still in contention for the title.
