Oh my god, they’re like Nostradamus!

A tennis fan’s pre-draw prediction has been making the rounds on Twitter/X over the weekend now that Barbora Krejcikova won the title, defeating Jasmine Paolini, 6-2, 2-6, 6-4.

Nearly 24 hours before the draw was even revealed on Friday, June 28, @VenusGauff posted, “I’m calling it right now whoever draws Kudermetova in R1 will win Wimbledon 2024.”

Tough to say what would be especially remarkable about drawing Veronika Kudermetova, a former world No. 9 who would be unseeded in the 2024 Championships’ women’s singles draw —much less any player with a 2-4 record at the All England Club—but the retrospectively auspicious honor went to Krejcikova, the No. 31 seed who only narrowly won, 7-6 (4), 6-7 (1), 7-5.

After emerging victorious, Krejcikova proved @VenusGauff right through six subsequent victories, overcoming the likes of No. 11 seed Danielle Collins, No. 13 seed Jelena Ostapenko, and No. 4 seed Elena Rybakina, the 2022 champion, before defeating Paolini in a three-set final.

The post’s quote-tweets are full of congratulations on the success of a decidedly left-field prediction, led by a @VenusGauff taking a well-deserved victory lap:

The US Open is over a month away, but anyone looking for early predictions might do well to give @VenusGauff a follow for some potentially other-worldly insight.
