Venus and Serena Williams have received accolades from all over the world, but what happened this past weekend in their hometown has to be among the most cherished.

In a special ceremony, the courts they practiced on as children in Compton, Calif., were officially declared the Venus & Serena Williams Court of Champions. The two courts at Lueders Park were refurbished with help from Gatorade—one of Serena's major sponsors—with plans to have continual coaching set up there, as well.

Venus and Serena truly have not forgotten where they came from. The dedication is the latest example of their community involvement as there are plans to open the Yetunde Price Resource Center, which will assist victims of violence.

After the court ceremony, the sisters took part in the Healthy Compton initiative, which was designed to promote all-around well-being.
