Not for lack of effort, Alexander Zverev fell to Jo-Wilfried Tsonga in Shanghai, almost quite literally. The 19-year-old survived the incident with the chair and wall, though he needed a medical time out (while seated on the offending bench).

Zverev would actually lead 4-1 in the final set before Tsonga roared back to win, 6-7 (4), 6-2, 7-5.

The smash into the wall wasn't the only incident in their Thursday battle. In what was nearly an identical scene to the Vasek Pospisil-Grigor Dimitrov ball boy incident, a youngster was reduced to tears after suffering a hit.

This time, Tsonga came to the rescue:

At least it wasn't the same ball boy.

Tsonga plays Roberto Bautista Agut for a spot in the semifinals.
