Sam Querrey is an unassuming 27-year-old tennis pro. He is ranked No. 43 on the ATP World Tour. And he is some kind of unlucky at love. Thus he set out to find a significant other—or at least a decently romantic date—on Millionaire Matchmaker, presented by Bravo, the cable channel that launched a hundred substandard housewives' careers. The program is hosted by Patti Stanger, and here's the full episode.
Here are 18 things you may or may not have known about Querrey, which he may or may not regret having shared on national TV:
- His parents were (are) high-school sweethearts. They've been married for 30-odd years.
- He travels, he leaves, and it fizzles out. ("It" being a couple notable relationships to date.)
- Querrey wants to get married have kids.
- This is a racquet-wielding fellow who has never dated anyone who plays tennis.
5. He likes a "girly" girl. And it's best if she likes to sport heels.
- The man would prefer an outdoorsy damsel who likes hiking and riding bikes.
7. Querrey has been in love twice, including with his most recent girlfriend.
- "He's got a good heart." So says Stanger.
- "He lives in girl-next-door country." Stanger again, after meeting with California native Querrey in his current hometown of ... Las Vegas.
- He's smart to hire Stanger. "Everyone's smart to hire me," she says in a direct address to the camera.
- He was No. 33 in the world when the show was shot in November 2014. (Again, now No. 43.)
12. Querrey loves Paris and London. Every other place is "so-so."
- He likes to bet. He'll even make a wager out of a little layman's game of archery.
- He pours it on when the stakes are high. First he was terrible at archery, until he became great at it.
15. The man is prone to take a date to The Melting Pot, a chain fondue spot known for its romantic environs.
- Turns out Querrey is talented at eating food off a stick. Who knew? (Perhaps the question is, Who wanted to know?)
17. He walks girls to their cars after dates.
- He's a man of his word. He's seen ballet dancer Kylie, his pick of the dating litter, a few times since their first date at The Melting Pot. Don't call it a commitment, but do call it Advantage Love.
Stay tuned, and to @SamQuerrey on Instagram, to see if "love" means much more than zero for him soon enough.
