2020 Plans: Gauff to return to Washington, D.C., setting new goals

Teen sensation Coco Gauff has scheduled to play the WTA event in Washington, D.C., next season, and says she frequently finds herself setting new goals.

The 15-year-old qualified in this year's event. Though she fell in in her main draw opener, every ticket for the tournament was sold the day she played. She went on to win her first WTA title in doubles with compatriot Caty McNally

"My family and I had a good time in D.C., so it wasn’t hard to make the decision to come back," Gauff said in a Washington Post interview.

Gauff had just reached the fourth round at Wimbledon, getting a win against Venus Williams, and would then reach the third round of the US Open. She won her first singles title at the WTA event in Linz and broke into the Top 100, finishing at No.68  in the rankings.

"I was hungry for more -- not more of the attention but more of the winning. I wanted to improve my ranking," she said. "After that, every time I accomplished a goal, I would set a new goal, so I always had something to reach for."

Gauff is still under WTA age eligibility rules, and is limited in the amount of events she can play on tour.
