Howdy, tribe. It's early in the morning here in Denver and you don't want to know why I'm still up and writing this, and I'm hoping that my wife Lisa isn't reading this. . . wouldn't want to be a bad example for Cowboy Luke.

Anyway, apologies for what problems you may have encountered yesterday and today (ah, anybody know what day it is?), but it was all related to conflicts between our new blogging software and the old website's protocols. And for that reason and with no further fanfare, we're going live with the new TennisWorld right now.

Steggy, TW's Hillbilly Princess, is still down in the holler somewhere, and she continues to transfer past posts to the new site. We will not be able to transfer comments, but they will be stored on the server and you can access them via the old URL (unless things have changed on that front in the last 24 hours; let me know if you have problems. Or if you even care).

The most immediate benefit to all of you will be the "Preview" screen that will enable you to edit your comments before ( but not after) posting them. I'm also hoping you get this pleasant new typeface I'm seeing as I write (unless my vision is more impaired than I think). Comments for the last few posts seem to have disappeared; I'll try to find out what's up with that, but all comments made here ought to appear just as in the old blog. You'll notice a few neat new features, including the "send to friend" function.

One important reminder. You do not have to share your contact info when you comment; it isn't obligatory to provide your email address in this open forum. But feel free to do so if you wish.

Meanwhile, as you probably know, Venus Williams has withdrawn from the U.S. Open. That's a downer. Feel free to comment on that, and on any issues or questions you have pertaining to the new look and editing functions of TennisWorld. I'd like to know what you think of it. Notice that we've changed the pictures at the top of the blog. Justine Henin-Hardenne is now up there; that's for your junior Elder, Samantha.

I'll be back. Soon.
