Both Davis Cup teams in this weekend’s quarterfinal tie between Great Britain and Serbia will be playing without their star players. With Andy Murray not participating after his Wimbledon win, world No. 67 Kyle Edmund will open for defending champion Great Britain against Serbia’s Janko Tipsarevic (Novak Djokovic won't attend either). Play begins Friday in Belgrade.

The United States team, led by John Isner, takes on Croatia in Portland, Oregon in their respective quarterfinal tie. Croatia will have a formidable team in Marin Cilic, Borna Coric and Ivan Dodig (as well as Marin Draganja), while Isner is joined by Jack Sock and Bob and Mike Bryan.

Fresh from reaching his first fourth round at a major at Wimbledon, Steve Johnson moved into the quarterfinals in Newport. The top seed beat Japan’s Yuchi Sugita, 6-1, 6-4. Defending champion Rajeev Ram fell to Dudi Sela, 6-3, 6-4.
