If the truism holds that "all publicity is good publicity," then Adidas has owned the tennis-apparel market these past few days. The brand revealed its looks for premier ATP and WTA tour players competing in the 2016 French Open at Roland Garros, with the likes of Ana Ivanovic, Tomas Berdych and Simona Halep toeing the line in social media posts. Jo-Wilfried Tsonga will also sport the style, part of the new collection in collaboration with Yohji Yamamoto's Y-3 label, known for outside-the-box designs. In this case, in a word—zebra.

Halep appears ready to wear a separate version of Ivanovic's dress, a style that includes a faux-suspenders look that at least breaks up the so-called zebra pattern.

Fans' responses have been, well, black and white. Night and day.

"Looks like a very cool outfit—can't wait to see you in it!" one fan wrote in response to Halep's tweet. "That'll help against lions and tigers in the draw. ;-)"

Other observers served as centrists, terming the print "a bit busy":

Still, others spared nothing in criticizing the new line, saying "Why-3?" or joking that the style "looks like something I would see in a shade nightclub on a 50-year-old makeup-shellacked lady." (Stop trying; you're not going to top that quip.)
