NEW YORK, NY (November 26, 2012) – With the year end #1 ranking on the line, tennis legends Andre Agassi, John McEnroe and Jim Courier will battle in the final two events of the 2012 PowerShares Series this week in Denver and Anaheim. All three players have a chance at capturing the 2012 PowerShares Series #1 ranking and the accompanying $500,000 first prize.

The PowerShares Series has completed 10 of the 12 tournaments on its' seven-week schedule. Courier currently holds the top ranking with a total of 1500 points, while McEnroe is in the second position with 1200. Agassi - the recent winner in San Jose and Las Vegas - currently sits in fourth place with 900 total points and can overtake Courier and McEnroe with wins in Denver and Anaheim.
“It's been a hard fought season and I’m fired up to try to lock the title up this week,” said Courier. “It’s moments like these that keep me pumped up to play and I’m sure both Andre and John are plotting a way to snatch the title. I wouldn’t want it any other way. May the best man win.”
The players are competing for a prize pool totaling $1 million, to be shared by the top three finishers of the tour at the conclusion of the season, with the winner taking home $500,000, 2nd place receiving $350,000 and 3rd place securing $150,000.  Each tournament offers 400 points to the winner, 200 points to the runner up and 100 points to each of the losing semifinalists. The rankings are derived from the combined total points each player earns from his best 5 tournament results.
With his current 300 point lead over McEnroe, Courier would only need to win one title of the remaining two events to secure the season championship. Meanwhile, McEnroe or Agassi must win both of the last two events to have a shot at overtaking Courier for the #1 ranking. Courier plays McEnroe in the semifinals of Denver this Thursday, with Agassi facing Micheal Chang in the other semifinal. Agassi will face McEnroe in the Anaheim semifinals, with Courier taking on Chang. Pete Sampras currently sits in 3rd place in the rankings but is not playing in either Denver or Anaheim. Agassi can pass Sampras and take the 3rd position with a semifinal win in either Denver or Anaheim.
