Former Wimbledon semifinalist Alexandra Stevenson scores her first win over a Top 60 player in more than seven years by taking out No. 58 Sofia Arvidsson 6-3, 6-1 in Memphis.
"I know I could come back, it just took a lot of years," said the 30-year-old Stevenson, who reached the Wimbledon semis in 1999. "Technology is better, people are healthier and you can really play as long as you want. Technically in tennis years, I'm 24. Unfortunately my shoulder stopped me from getting into the Top 10 when I was 22, 23. I didn't like my 20s. I'm happy to be 30."—Matthew Cronin
