Mornin'. And how about that Kei Nishikori, taking out no. 11 seed  Marin Cili in a bitter marathon that lasted just one minute short of five hours in the intensely hot cauldron of the National Tennis Center yesterday? I was salivating the prospect of writing that one, but as you know I was otherwise occupied finding out about the American ingenue, Beatrice Capra.

Today, I take my wife Lisa out to have a nice lunch in the USTA President's Box and to watch some tennis with her. She looks forward to it every year, but has no desire to hang around tennis tournaments with me beyond that, which makes my life easier. I also have to produce a substantial piece for Tennis magazine based on my interview with the new owner of the BNP Paribas Open (Indian Wells), so blogging will be light, but I'll be back and going full-on tomorrow. I'm thinking, Nishikori!

We also don't know at this point what Hurrricane Earl will bring our way, but whatever it is, enjoy!
