ACAPULCO, Mexico (AP) Nicolas Almagro of Spain moved within a victory of his third straight ATP title by beating Thomaz Bellucci 7-6 (4), 6-4 in the Mexican Open semifinals Friday.
The victory was Almagro's 13th straight as he tries to add the Mexico trophy to titles he won the last two weeks in Argentina and Brazil. This would be his 10th ATP title, all on clay.
He will face defending champion and top-seeded David Ferrer or Alexandr Dolgopolov in the final. They played later Friday.
In the first women's semifinal, No. 6 Arantxa Parra Santonja of Spain defeated Johanna Larsson of Sweden, 6-2, 6-0. No. 4 Gisela Dulko played Anabel Medina Garrigues in the other semifinal.
