Andrey Rublev stormed past American Brandon Nakashima in straight sets on Saturday afternoon, 6-2, 6-2, to reach the quarterfinals of the National Bank Open for the first time.

And with that, he’s now completed his career set of Masters 1000 quarterfinals, having reached at least the quarterfinals at all of the other eight Masters 1000 tournaments beforehand.

RUBLEV’S BEST RESULT BY MASTERS 1000 EVENT:
SFs of Indian Wells [2022]
SFs of Miami [2021]
Won Monte Carlo [2023]
Won Madrid [2024]
QFs of Rome [2021]
QFs of Canada [2024]
F of Cincinnati [2021]
F of Shanghai [2023]
SFs of Paris [2023]

Rublev, who was born in 1997, is just the seventh man born in 1990 or later to complete the set, after Dominic Thiem (1993), Stefanos Tsitsipas (1998), Alexander Zverev (1997), Grigor Dimitrov (1991), Daniil Medvedev (1996) and Hubert Hurkacz (1997).

Rublev has actually reached the semifinals or better at seven of the nine Masters 1000 events in his career, only missing Rome and Canada.

And there’s more: Rublev had already reached the quarterfinals of all four majors, meaning he now has both sets completed.

RUBLEV’S BEST RESULT BY GRAND SLAM EVENT:
QFs of Australian Open [2021, 2023, 2024]
QFs of Roland Garros [2020, 2022]
QFs of Wimbledon [2023]

The list of men born in 1990 or later to have reached the quarterfinals of all nine Masters events AND all four Grand Slam events is much smaller—Rublev is just the third player to achieve that feat, after 1991-born Dimitrov and 1996-born Medvedev.
