Andy Murray has announced he has split with coach Ivan Lendl.
The pair first worked together between 2012 and 2014 and reunited in 2016. However, with Murray frequently injured this season and Lendl helping juniors in Florida, their training together had been limited to just a few occasions.
"I’m thankful to Ivan for all his help and guidance," Murray said in a statement. "We’ve had great success and learned a lot as a team. My focus now is on getting ready for Australia, with the team I have in place, and getting back to competing."
Murray has won each of his Grand Slam titles with Lendl, and also reached the No. 1 ranking in 2016.
Murray's other coach, Jamie Delgado, is still in his position. Speaking to SkySports, the former British player said Murray should be fit to return by the ATP event in Brisbane, Australia, next year.
"The plan is to start in Brisbane in the first week of the year and then there is a week's gap between that and the Australian Open," said Delgado. "We are in the process now of getting ready for a few weeks and try to get a preseason block together, try and get some good players to practice with and pick up that level and get ready for Australia."
Murray played an exhibition with Roger Federer a week ago, and was at the ATP Tour Finals practicing with Dominic Thiem. He has not played a tournament since Wimbledon, where he was hampered by a hip injury.
Murray is No. 16 in the rankings.
