Now that was a number-one performance.

After her dominant 6-2, 6-1 semifinal win over defending champion Agnieszka Radwanska—which ran her record to 4-0 at the WTA Finals in Singapore—it looks like Angelique Kerber is once again back on track.

After reaching the top of the rankings, Kerber had some iffy performances, going just 5-3 in tournaments between the U.S. Open and the WTA Finals. Momentum clearly was not in her favor.

But after toughing out a grueling three-setter against Dominika Cibulkova, the German has settled into a groove, winning in straights over Simona Halep and Madison Keys before the Radwanska demolition.

Radwanska was unable to get her feet into the match as Kerber—playing her first semifinal in four appearances at the year-end event—was in full-on attack mode. Even though Kerber did get broken twice, it didn’t make much of a difference, as she took advantage of seven of the 13 break points she earned against Radwanska.

Next up for Kerber is a day-one rematch against Cibulkova, who battled past Svetlana Kuznetsova in the semis in yet another classic match in Singapore. In her two Grand Slam-winning performances in 2016, the world No. 1 saved her best for last. Now, she’s on the verge of coming up with the goods once again and solidifying a season for the ages.
