In another impressive display of beautiful ball-striking and beyond-her-age mental prowess, 17-year-old Amanda Anisimova punched her ticket to her first Grand Slam quarterfinal appearance with a comprehensive, 6-3, 6-0 victory over Spanish qualifier Aliona Bolsova Zadoinov. With her victory, Anisimova became the first player male or female born in the 2000's to make the quarterfinal round of a Grand Slam.

But Anisimova doesn't care about her age-related accomplishments.

"I have no idea about who did what at what age," Anisimova said. "People tell me and then I just forget after a second. I don't really care about it too much. I'm in the present and I want to do good and I hope for good results, but I don't really think about how old I am."

Anisimova has clearly heard the phrase “act like you’ve been there before.” She was cool as a cucumber from start to finish, dominating the likely fatigued Bolsova Zadoinov, who was playing her sixth match of the tournament. Anisimova secured an early break at 3-2 in the first set and never looked back, winning eight of the next nine games.

Anisimova was the aggressor throughout, using her piercing groundstrokes to gain control of the points. She hit 33 winners compared to just 22 unforced errors. Anisimova will join fellow Americans Sloane Stephens and Madison Keys in the quarterfinal round.

She will face off against the oddsmakers current favorite to win the title, Simona Halep, on Wednesday.

"I can't describe how excited I am," Anisimova said of her next match. "It's amazing playing her. She won it the previous year. So honestly, I couldn't ask for a better matchup. I'm just extremely happy and excited for the next round."
