Ashleigh Barty's comeback continues with first title, spot in Top 100

Ashleigh Barty has won her first WTA title and broken into the Top 100 for the first time, her biggest accomplishments since returning to tour after attempting to play professional cricket.

The 20-year-old, who had to qualify to get into the main draw, defeated Nao Hibino to take the Kuala Lumpur singles title. To cap off the week, she also took the doubles title alongside Casey Dellacqua.

"I feel great—very tired, but great," Barty said, according to the WTA website. "It's been a monster week for me ... I don't think I could have physically played any more matches."

Though she played just one opponent ranked in the Top 100 on her way to the title, Barty reached a career-high ranking (92nd). An established doubles player—she reached the final of the Australian Open in 2013—the Australian now has a singles title to her name.

"I'm very happy to come away with two titles," she said. "But even if we didn't, it would have been a fantastic tournament anyway."

Barty, who left the tour as a teenager, had previously reached a career-high of No. 129 in the rankings.
