ATP Finals London Preview: Stefanos Tsitsipas vs. Alexander Zverev

There’s something about the O2 Arena that brings out the best in Alexander Zverev. In his last three matches at the ATP Finals, dating back to last year's title run, the German has beaten Roger Federer, Novak Djokovic, and Rafael Nadal—all in straight sets.

Zverev’s confidence should be off the charts after scoring his first win over Nadal in such dominant fashion. But his opponent on Wednesday, Stefanos Tsitsipas, should also be feeling confident. On Monday, the Greek defeated Daniil Medvedev for the first time in six tries.

Zverev’s performances in London have shown that his peak level is still arguably the highest of all the tour's young stars. When locked in, his range and firepower are overwhelming, even for the Big 3. But tennis is not about your peak level, it’s about what you can bring to the court on a daily basis.

One of Tsitsipas’ greatest strengths is his problem-solving ability. Zverev handled Tsitsipas in their first ever meeting at the 2018 Citi Open, but has lost the last three meetings, including last month's Beijing semifinal.

The oddsmakers give Zverev the slightest possible edge on a quick indoor hard court, but your guess is as good as theirs. (To this point, their three-month UTR is exactly the same.)
