JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) The ATP says that Jim McManus, a former player and founding member of the men's tennis tour, has died. He was 70.

According to the ATP, relying on information from his family, McManus died Tuesday of medical complications following a battle with cancer.

McManus was a member of the ATP's original board of directors in 1972 and was an employee of the tour for 28 years. ATP president Adam Helfant called him a true pioneer of the game of tennis'' andone of its greatest and most significant figures.''

McManus is survived by his wife and two children.
