Unseeded Justine Henin has landed in the third quarter of the draw, facing a possible meeting with Elena Dementieva in the second round and a clash with compatriot Kim Clijsters in the quarterfinals. Svetlana Kuznetsova and a number of dangerous dark horses are also in that part of of the draw.
The fourth quarter is less crammed, flanked by Dinara Safina and Jelena Jankovic with Maria Sharapova looming.
The Williams sisters bookend the top half of the draw. Ana Ivanovic and Victoria Azarenka are among the possible quarterfinal opponents for Serena, while Caroline Wozniacki is the top threat in the secodn quarter.
First-round highlights include Venus against Lucie Safarova and Jelena Dokic against Alisa Kleybanova in a repeat of last year's fourth-round thriller.
