Barbie doll of Clijsters released

Mattel has unveiled a Barbie doll of Kim Clijsters at the Nuremberg toy fair, marking her U.S. Open victory last year. A doll of Clijsters' daughter Jada has also been issued.

"When I was a young girl I played with my Barbie dolls all the time and took them with me everywhere I went. I am therefore deeply honoured and humbled..." said Clijsters in a statement. "My family means everything to me, so I was really excited when I found out that Jada would also receive her very own 'Jada' Barbie doll."

Clijsters is among three new Barbie dolls based on real-life figures, along with J.K. Rowling and Sweden's crown princess, Victoria. Previously released dolls include Oprah Winfrey, Angela Merkel and Melinda Gates.
