Belinda Bencic has announced that she has had wrist surgery and will be sidelined for a "few months."

The 20-year-old from Switzerland had won just one WTA match this season. She was experiencing injury problems and making several adjustments, including changing her manager and clothing sponsor and not having her father traveling with her as a coach.

Bencic, a former Top 10 player, has fallen to No. 123.

Another of the WTA's top up-and-comers, Naomi Osaka, will be off the tour for two weeks with an abdominal tear.

"It actually hurts to look at the scores and progression of the current tournaments going on when you're sidelined and can't play," she wrote on Twitter.

Osaka is No. 47 in the rankings.
