Belinda Bencic, who withdrew from the French Open this week with a back injury, says she will return on grass courts.

The teenager has not played since Charleston, when a back injury sustained in Miami flared up. Speaking to journalists in Switzerland, she said she had resumed practicing but had not trained enough to play a Grand Slam tournament.

"It happens to every player in their career," she told *Tages-Anzeiger* in regard to the injury. "It is better to withdraw than play not ready."

The world No. 8 said she will use the extra two weeks to get fully fit for the grass-court season.

Bencic is the defending champion at the grass-court event in Eastbourne.
