FEZ, Morocco (AP)—Iveta Benesova has won her second WTA Tour title, beating Romanian teenager Simona Halep 6-4, 6-2 in the Grand Prix SAR final.
The left-handed Czech won Saturday's match when Halep sent a forehand into the net. Benesova's first title came in 2004 at Acapulco, Mexico.
The 18-year-old Halep is the youngest WTA finalist this year and had jitters at the start, with two double-faults in an opening game that contained 18 points.
Benesova broke twice to lead 5-2 in the first set before dropping serve to let Halep rally at 5-4. But the Czech regrouped to convert her fourth set point.
Benesova jumped out to a 4-1 lead in the second set.
