MUNICH(AP) Tomas Berdych rallied from four points down in the decisive tiebreaker to beat Mikhail Youzhny 6-4, 4-6, 7-6 (5) in the final of the BMW Open Sunday for his first title of the year.

The fourth-seeded Czech squandered a 4-1 lead in the third set and wasted three match points before falling behind 4-0 and 5-1 in the tiebreaker.

But Youzhny's serve then deserted him and he made a string of errors to allow Berdych back into the match. Berdych then won six straight points to win the match.

For Youzhny it was his second final loss at the Munich clay-court tournament.

Berdych didn't waste his fourth match point, converting it with a smash at the net to win his fifth career title.

Berdych had not made a final since winning the Tokyo tournament in October.

Youzhny was in his first final since winning in Chennai, India, in January 2008. The Russian was the runner-up in Munich in 2007, when he beat Berdych in the semifinals. He still leads Berdych 5-4 in career matches.

Berdych broke serve to win the first set, then went down 4-1 in the second. Youzhny had to save two break points before holding serve to win the second set.

Berdych could have ended the match earlier when he had three match points while leading 6-5 in the third but failed to convert any of them.
