Moscow-born Alex Bogomolov Jr. of the U.S. tells the Russian press that he would consider playing Davis Cup for Russia. Bolgomolov's father, Alexander, who is a noted teaching pro, still lives in Russia and runs a tennis camp in Ukraine.

Alex Jr. has never played Davis Cup for the United States so would he be eligible to play for Russia. The Bolgomolovs moved to South Florida when Alex Jr. was 11. His older sister, Katia, became an All-American at the University of Miami and his younger brother Boris is considering going to university in the U.S.

Bogomolov and his Brazilian fiancée, Luana, are the parents of a 21-month-old boy, Maddox. He was briefly married to American player Ashley Harkleroad.

Alex Sr. grew tired of the lack of work ethic of the juniors whom he worked with in Florida and moved back to Russia in 2003. He runs a summer tennis camp in the Ukraine. Alex Jr. told TENNIS.com in July that he had not seen his father in three years, but the two will met up again this fall.

The 28-year-old Bogomolov Jr. began the year ranked No. 167 and is now ranked a career high No. 37. "I didn't think about it before but in case I receive a concrete proposal to play for Russia I will seriously think about it," Bogomolov told reporters at the Kremlin Cup. "I will also have to consult with my family and my team on the case before taking the decision."??

Russia's Davis Cup captain Shamil Tarpischev added: "I discussed the situation with Alex's father. He said he was dreaming his son could play for the Russian squad. But in any case Alex Jr. is the only person who makes the decision. There are also some technical difficulties, but we can definitely solve these problems if he decides to join our squad. Of course he will never play for Russia at the Olympic Games, but he can seriously help our team in Davis Cup matches."
