Eugenie Bouchard has withdrawn from Canada's Fed Cup tie against Slovakia with an abdominal injury.
The 21-year-old retired with the injury in her second-round match in Charleston.
"I am disappointed that I won't be a part of the team,” Bouchard said in a statement. “I was looking forward to defending my country's colors and joining my teammates in Slovakia. However, I need to take the time to heal my injury."
The Group II playoff tie had been on Bouchard's schedule, but her participation was in doubt following her injury in Charleston.
The Canadian team will be led by Francois Abanda, Sharon Fichman and Aleksandra Wozniak, while Slovakia will have Dominika Cibulkova for tie in Bratislava.
Bouchard also withdrew from the first round of Fed Cup play, citing ongoing recovery from the concussion she suffered last season.
