Chardy replaces Simon in France's Davis Cup team

PARIS(AP) Jeremy Chardy has been called up to France's Davis Cup team as replacement for the injured Gilles Simon.

France plays the Netherlands next week for a spot in next year's world group.

France captain Guy Forget said Thursday that ``Julien is in good shape and he is an excellent doubles player.''

Simon has a knee injury.

The French team also includes Gael Monfils and Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, who both reached the fourth round of the U.S. Open, and doubles specialist Michael Llodra.
